The Volkstrauertag (Remembrance Day for the victims of war) takes place in Germany on the Sunday before the first Advent every year. This day is also very important for the German Military Cemetery in Ysselsteyn. A lot of visitors come to Ysselsteyn, either privately or via an official invitation from the Volksbund - often combined with visiting tours organized by the Volksbund for relatives of the soldiers. They remember the victims of war and tyranny. Wreaths are laid down on the central memorial place, where some speeches are held as well. 

Volkstrauertag 2010 is on Sunday 14th of November.

Volkstrauertag 2009 is on Sunday 15th of November at 1:30 pm.
